NOPEC Anniversary Enrollment FAQs

Here's what you need to know about Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) anniversary enrollment. 

NOPEC has begun sending current and newly eligible natural gas customers in Avon Lake an anniversary enrollment mailing, per Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) requirements. This is your opportunity to continue with the NOPEC program or opt out and choose another program. Enrollment packets include details about the program, NOPEC Standard Program Price, other available rate options, and instructions on how to enroll or opt-out of the aggregation program. 

Q: What is anniversary enrollment? 
A: NOPEC anniversary enrollment is a period when eligible customers are given the opportunity to opt out of the NOPEC natural gas aggregation program or remain enrolled for another two-year term.

Q: What action do I need to take as a Columbia Gas customer? 
A: Customers who are already enrolled in NOPEC’s Standard Program Price option (see below), and those that want to join NOPEC, do not need to take any action. They will automatically be enrolled in NOPEC’s Standard Program Price option.

Customers who want to opt-out must notify NOPEC by following the opt-out instructions included in their enrollment letter.  

Q: What other options are available? 
A: Energy Choice Ohio's website offers an "Apples to Apples" cost comparison tool you can use to explore your options outside of NOPEC so you can choose the one that best fits your circumstances and budget. You'll find the Apples to Apples comparison tool at energychoice.ohio.gov. 

Q: How do I contact NOPEC? 
A: NOPEC's Customer Care Center is available by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 855-667-3201. 

Q: What is the cost of NOPEC enrollment? 
A: Per NOPEC, the initial price for their Standard Program product for Columbia Gas of Ohio customer will be $0.799 per 100 cubic feet of natural gas consumption for the 3-month period that begins with June 2025 meter reads through August 2025 meter reads. For customers that prefer longer periods of predictable pricing, NOPEC recently updated their fixed term product prices. Their new pricing options are as follows: 

For our anniversary enrollment mailing being sent to all current and newly eligible NOPEC natural gas customers in your community starting in mid-April, the initial price for our Standard Program product for Columbia Gas of Ohio customers will be $0.799 per Ccf for the 3-month period beginning with the June 2025 meter reads through the August 2025 meter reads. For those customers that prefer even longer periods of predictable pricing, we recently updated our fixed term product prices as well. The new pricing for our other product options will be:

Natural Gas: Standard Program Price

Customers can also choose NOPEC's Monthly Variable Price product; which costs $0.002 per CCF less than the utility’s Standard Choice Offer and reset monthly. Enrollment in the Monthly Variable Price product is limited to 3.5% of NOPEC customers in the utility service territory and subject to availability.
